The location of this hotel was amazing, surrounded by nature and close to various attractions. We were able to explore the jungle, visit ruins, and even take a refreshing dip in the swimming hole. The owner, Maddy, was incredibly friendly and welcoming. She went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and provided us with delicious meals throughout our stay.
The presence of bugs and humidity in the jungle was a bit of a downside. However, this should be expected when staying in such a natural environment.

I recently stayed at Lower Dover for four nights and had an amazing time! The property offers beautiful hiking trails and comfortable beds, as well as warm showers. Maddie, the owner, is incredibly sweet and the meals they cook are delicious. They also helped us book tours, which was very helpful. I would definitely recommend staying here as part of your journey.

Great value for money with the high-end cabana being affordable and comfortable. On-site Mayan ruins, jungle trails, and a small waterfall swimming hole.- The presence of various animals like turkeys, roosters/hens, ducks, dogs, and goats.- Convenient location, just a few miles from a town and nearby ruins and cave.- Group dinners/breakfasts with delicious, local meals at affordable prices.- Unique aspect of sitting at a big table and exchanging stories with fellow travelers.- The welcoming and friendly owner who shared fascinating stories about the property.
No hot water in the room, only available in common showers. The property had a farm-like appearance with animals running around.

I just had the most amazing stay at Lower Dover! the property is nestled in the heart of the jungle and offers a truly immersive experience. From reading in hammocks to exploring the ancient Mayan ruins, there is so much to do here. the accommodation is clean and spacious, with plenty of fans to keep you cool. Maddy, the owner, is a true legend and goes above and beyond to make your trip enjoyable. the home, cooked meals are delicious, and Maddy can help arrange any sightseeing activities you're interested in. Plus, her two snake, hunting dogs make exploring the jungle feel safe and magical. I also loved the wine tasting offered by Maddy's son, Justin. My partner and I recently stayed at Lower Dover and it was such a unique and satisfying experience. The jungle atmosphere really added to the charm, and Magdalena, the owner, went above and beyond to ensure we had a fantastic stay. Her cooking was outstanding, serving up healthy and delicious meals. The property itself was stunning, with trails to explore the jungle and even Maya ruins. We were sad to leave and have been recommending this gem to everyone we meet.
Would be happy to recommend this hotel.

I stayed at Lower Dover for 3-4 days and it was one of the big highlights of my trip! Maddie and her family are amazing hosts and have built a wonderful place. The rooms, beds, and showers/bathrooms are very clean. The kitchen and eating areas are clean, nice, and comfy. The prices are fair and you won't find a better hostel experience in Belize. There are so many things to do in and around Lower Dover, from exploring the ruins to kayaking tours and jungle walks. Maddie and her team are welcoming and provide great advice. The food is delicious, and you have to try the amazing fruit wines from Justin!
